Mesa Water District Completes Wilson Street Pipeline Replacement Project to Help Ensure a Reliable Water Supply

COSTA MESA, Calif.; May 2, 2022 – Mesa Water District (Mesa Water®) is pleased to announce the completion of its Wilson Street Pipeline Replacement Project, which included replacing a 70-year-old underground steel pipeline on Wilson Street from the Newport Boulevard intersection to the Harbor Boulevard intersection, in Costa Mesa. The project, which started in August 2021, was completed on schedule and within budget.

As part of a $70 million Capital Improvement Project Renewal program, the replacement of this aging pipeline is one of several major improvement and maintenance projects that Mesa Water is proactively moving forward to benefit our customers and the 100% local, clean, safe water they depend on,” says Mesa Water Board President, Marice H. DePasquale.

The new, 12-inch polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipeline is about 1-mile in length. The project also included work on connections to existing pipelines at street intersections and replacement of existing one- and two-inch service lines, fire hydrants, and underground meter boxes.

With this project now completed, the City of Costa Mesa plans to resurface Wilson Street in the late June/early July timeframe.
