The event will include students from Estancia, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, and Fountain Valley High Schools who will present their field data and conclusions from their research through the ICRE Ecological Field Studies Program, which teaches students about the environment and water resources. “Mesa Water District is delighted to host this year’s ICRE Field Work Symposium at our very own Mesa Water Reliability Facility,” says Mesa Water Board Vice President, Marice H. DePasquale. “The program provides students with an opportunity to conduct real-world ecological research and we are happy to support our students as they present their year’s hard work.” A panel of expert environmentalists will review and provide feedback on the students’ poster presentations, featuring their final research results. More than 100 Newport-Mesa Unified School District students, families, civic leaders, college faculty, and other program sponsors are expected to attend. A Mesa Water community partner, the ICRE is dedicated to environmental research and conservation, both locally and globally. The organization aims to conserve and restore habitat used by native wildlife through community involvement, outreach, and education.
