Manning, Mesa Water District's Water Operations Manager Elected to Southwest Membrane Operator Association's Board of Directors Posted: Tuesday, July 30, 2019 COSTA MESA, Calif.; July 30, 2019 — Mesa Water District (Mesa Water®) is pleased to announce that Tracy E. Manning, MPA, Water Operations Manager at Mesa Water, has been elected to the Southwest Membrane Operator Association’s (SWMOA) Board of Directors. Manning is one of four Division 1 board members and will serve from 2019 to 2022. Division 1 consists of SWMOA members who are water suppliers/operators. “Mesa Water attracts and retains some of the most highly-skilled staff in the water industry,” says Shawn Dewane, Mesa Water Board President. “We are pleased that Tracy has been elected to the SWMOA Board — a remarkable accomplishment — where she will make invaluable contributions for our region given her more than 20 years of professional experience.” SWMOA is an affiliate of the American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) dedicated to the Southwest United States region including, but not limited to, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. SWMOA’s mission is to enhance the professional development of membrane operators and the municipal and industrial applications they support in the Southwest USA. In her role, Manning will serve as Co-Chair of the Program/Technology Transfer Committee, which oversees the preparation of the programs and technical sessions designed to increase the knowledge of and interest in desalination, water reclamation, and other fields of interest to the association. She will also help develop and support training and tour opportunities for SWMOA members, as well as act as alternate liaison to AMTA. Manning joined the Mesa Water team in 1994. In her current role as Water Operations Manager, she oversees water quality, water production, system maintenance, and regulatory compliance activities for the District. Manning has been certified as a water distribution operator and water treatment operator for over 23 years. In 2011, she earned both a Water Distribution Operator Grade D5 – the highest distribution certificate available; and, a Water Treatment Operator Grade T4. She holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in political science from California State University, Long Beach and an associate’s degree in water utility science from Santiago Canyon College. Manning’s additional certifications and recognitions include: American Water Works Association (AWWA) Water Quality Analyst Grade II Certificate; AWWA Cross-Connection Specialist Certificate; AWWA Conservation Professional Grade I Certificate; Certified Occupational Safety Specialist; and, numerous Mesa Water Distinctive Service Awards. Manning’s election to the SWMOA Board of Directors was formally announced at the 2019 SWMOA Annual Symposium on June 25.
