COSTA MESA, Calif.; July 17, 2023 ā Mesa Water District (Mesa WaterĀ®) has been recognized for the 28th year in a row for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Annual Report ā commonly referred to as the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). This is the highest form of recognition in accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant accomplishment by Mesa Water. āMesa Waterās Board of Directors and staff are committed to excellence in all aspects of the district,ā says Shawn Dewane, Mesa Water Board President. āTransparency in financial reporting is critical and ensures continued public trust.ā The Annual Report is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the GFOA program, which includes demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential stakeholders to read the Annual Report. In addition, Mesa Waterās Financial Services Department will receive an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement (AFRA), for earning the Certificate of Achievement.
